Three Injured in Head-on Collision in Weston

WESTON, Conn. – Three people were taken to a local hospital Sunday afternoon after a two-car head-on collision on Route 53 in Weston, also known as Newtown Turnpike.

Three people were in the two vehicles involved in the wreck, which occurred at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday near the Saugatuck Reservoir, Weston police said. Police did not know the extent of the injuries but said all three were transported to a hospital for treatment.

Route 53 was closed to traffic for more than five hours between Valley Forge Road in Weston and Tudor Road in Redding after the crash.

The accident remained under investigation. Police did not disclose the names of the injured people or any further details on the crash.
