Waterbury Woman Killed By Train In Fairfield Identified

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The 31-year-old woman who was struck and killed by an Amtrak train Sunday evening in Fairfield has been identified as Fallon Newvine of Waterbury, according to the Connecticut Post.

Newvine was attempting to cross the tracks Metro-North train station instead of using the overhead pedestrian bridge when she was killed by the Boston-bound train at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday, the Post said.

Fairfield Police Chief Gary McNamara said Newvine tried to seek safety under the platform as the Amtrak train approached, the Post said.  

The Amtrak train was held at the Fairfield station for hours as police conducted an investigation, the Post said.
