Letter: Person-To-Person Thanks Volunteers For Helping Westport

DARIEN, Conn. -- The Darien Daily Voice accepts signed letters to the editor. Send letters to darien@dailyvoice.com.

To the Editor:

For 45 years, Person-to-Person (P2P) has been delivering emergency services and providing basic necessities to individuals and families in Lower Fairfield County. As a result of our merger with Norwalk’s Christian Community Action in late 2012, our reach is broader and our impact is greater. We now provide services to people in Norwalk, Weston, Wilton and Westport, as well as Stamford, Darien and New Canaan.

Throughout Lower Fairfield County there are thousands of low-income families and individuals in need of assistance every day – neighbors who live in our communities; children who attend our schools; friends who belong to our houses of worship. They come to P2P for emergency services such as food, clothing or financial assistance to meet their immediate need. They come to P2P for help achieving long-term goals, which we provide through counseling and referrals or with scholarships for summer camp and college.

Whether we are helping a family put food on the table or providing a person with warm clothing, we are able to do so because individuals, organizations, schools and businesses volunteer their time, donate clothing and food, or make a cash contribution to P2P.

As a larger, more dynamic agency that is able to meet the basic needs of under-resourced families and individuals in Stamford, Norwalk and surrounding communities, we face the coming year secure in the knowledge that, because of your generosity, we will be able to continue making a difference in the lives of people who reach out to us for help.

On behalf of the thousands of people we will be able to help – because of you who are willing to share what you have with others who have so much less – we offer our sincere gratitude.

Happy New Year and many thanks!
