Paul Masters, who is the husband of Ridgefield Selectwoman Di Masters, was arrested by Redding police after the crash on Route 107 near Redding Road.
He is charged with second-degree assault with a motor vehicle, third-degree assault, illegal operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failing to grant half of a highway, according to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website.
Masters, 60, of 100 South Salem Road, has pleaded not guilty to all charges, the website says.
When Masters crashed head-on into another car Nov. 17, he had a blood-alcohol level of 0.24, the Hour reported. The mother and her teenage son were treated for head and neck injuries at Norwalk Hospital, according to the article. Masters was taken to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, The Hour said.
“He was three times the legal limit. Obviously all of us in law enforcement take drunk driving seriously,” Redding police Chief Doug Fuchs was quoted as saying in The Hour.
