NORWALK, Conn. A Norwalk man accused of shooting his sister's boyfriend Thursday at Roodner Court was arrested by Norwalk police less than 24 hours after the shooting.
Terry Peterson, 20, was apprehended at about 1 p.m. Friday at the Bridgeport train station with the help of the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force, Lt. Praveen John said in a statement. The detective bureau had developed information that Peterson fled to Bridgeport after the shooting.
The shooting happened at about 5:55 p.m. Thursday. A 30-year-old man was shot in the upper torso and taken to Norwalk Hospital with serious injuries, police said. Officers found him lying in a hallway on the first floor of Building 12.
Detective Ryan Evarts was assisted by Detectives Louie Giannatasio and David Orr in obtaining an arrest warrant in less than six hours for Peterson, charging him with first-degree assault, a Class B felony, and carrying a pistol without a permit, John said. They also got a search warrant for his residence. It has been executed, and additional corroborating evidence was found, John said.
Peterson was being held on $250,000 bond. His court date is Sept. 10.
