Norwalk Man Charged With Picking Up Girl, 14

NORWALK, Conn. – A 38-year-old Norwalk man was arrested Monday for allegedly picking up a 14-year-old girl and touching her inappropriately outside a Dunkin' Donuts.

Manuel Infante was charged with risk of injury to a minor, a felony, and second-degree breach of peace, a misdemeanor. Norwalk police gave this account of the incident:

The girl was walking along a street when Infante allegedly stopped his car and waved at her. The girl thought she knew him and got in, and Infante drove to the Dunkin' Donuts on Westport Avenue.

After the two got food and returned to the car, Infante allegedly put his hand on the girl’s leg and kissed her on the cheek. The girl then realized she didn’t know him, got out of his car and ran to a friend’s house, where she called the police. Infante did not try to restrain her, according to the police report.

Police released surveillance photos to the media on Monday and several people identified Infante as the suspect, police said. He was arrested Monday night.

Infante was cooperative with officers and said he did not know the girl was 14, according to the police report. He was held on a $25,000 bond and went to court Tuesday.
