Westport police were called to the parking lot of Whole Foods at 399 Post Road W. at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1., on a report of an infant left unattended in a vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers found the vehicle unlocked and running with the infant inside, police said.

Milan Kunajukr, the baby's mother, came out of the store and returned to her vehicle a short time after the officers arrived, police said.

The weather at the time of the incident was about 84 degrees, police said, however the interior of the vehicle was cool because the air conditioning was on, police said. According to witness statements, the infant was alone for approximately seven minutes, police said.

Based on the facts and circumstances of the case, Kunajukr was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters, police said.

Police made arrangements for the father to take custody of the infant, who was evaluated by EMS before leaving the area.
