Herbst suggested that voters use Facebook, Twitter and whatever means they have available to get their friends and acquaintances to vote on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
State Sen. Toni Boucher emphasized the importance of this election. She told the audience that Connecticut is "the Number One Sinkhole State," with the highest debt per taxpayer, according to a statement from the Weston Republican Town Committee.
She went on to say that if voters want to turn this state around, they need to get out and vote for the candidates who will do it.
State Rep. John Shaban spoke about the number of jobs lost in Connecticut during the last four years and how crucial it is to have a change in Hartford.
Others in attendance included state Senate candidate Tony Hwang, probate judge incumbent candidate Lisa Wexler, and secretary of the state candidate Peter Lumaj. House of Representatives candidate Dan Debicella sent his regards but was unable to attend due to a debate scheduling conflict.
According to Herbst, Weston is considered a “swing town” in this election. That’s why Weston Republican Town Committee Campaign Chair Bob Ferguson is making voter turnout a priority.
“Everything we do — phone banks, direct mail, door to door campaigning — is aimed at getting our supporters to the polls on November 4," said Britta Lerner, chair of the Weston RTC. “If voters study the issues and get to the polls, we will elect the candidates who will bring prosperity back to Connecticut.”
More than 70 voters turned out for The Gathering at the Grange on Sunday, Oct. 19, to meet candidates for state office and listen to their messages. Candidates were unified on one message: Get out the vote on Nov. 4. Anyone who cannot make it to the polls, can arrange for an absentee ballot at Town Hall.
