GREENWICH, Conn. Greenwich resident and U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal is the seventh richest person in Congress, according The Hill's list of the 50 weatlhiest lawmakers.
Blumenthal's net worth is just more than $80 million, the Hill reported. His wife, Cynthia, is the daughter of Peter Malkin, whose family owns several commercial buildings in New York City, including the Empire State Building, The Hill reported.
Blumenthal's net worth increased by $25 million from 2010 to 2011, The Hill says. Blumenthal, former attorney general of Connecticut who is serving his first Senate term, defeated Linda McMahon in 2010.
U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul, of Texas, was No. 1 on The Hill's wealthiest lawmakers list, with U.S. Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts ranked second.
