“I hope to build on the sound environmental policies we have adopted these last four years,” said Shaban, . a practicing lawyer with an Environmental Law Degree. “I will continue to promote brownfield redevelopment, open space and the strengthening of our shoreline, while fighting needless unfunded mandates and anti-development initiatives that do little to protect our environment.”

Shaban also returns as a member of the Finance, Revenue & Bonding Committee.

“As in the past, I will work to restore fiscal sanity via cuts in the size and burn rate of our government, and will continue to resist the current majority’s borrow, spend and tax approach that is keeping our state near the bottom in every economic metric," he said. "A stable tax and regulatory environment will return promise and prosperity to our state, not more rhetoric, rules and rate changes.”

Shaban will also again be a member of the state’s Judiciary Committee, focusing on policies that control the criminal justice system, state courts and the rule of law.

“On balance,” he said, “we have moved our judicial system in the right direction these last four years.  Still, I will continue to fight against those majorities polices that offer relief to dangerous criminals while ignoring their victims, and the innumerable new laws passed very year that needlessly burden employers with unnecessary regulations while promoting incessant lawsuits.”
