RHINEBECK, N.Y. – Robert J. "Bob" Germano Sr., a lifelong area resident, died Monday, Nov. 23 at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck. He was 93.
Germano was born Sept. 28, 1922, in Wappingers Falls to Rocco and Rose Germano, operating Germano Oil Company after serving in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was predeceased by his parents; sister Helen Sucato; and five brothers, John, Lawrence, Ernest, Charles and Anthony.
Germano is survived by his wife Rose, daughter Janette, son Robert Jr. of Hyde Park; three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, three sisters, Marie Holt of Hyde Park, Irene Cohen of New Windsor, and Doris Van Benschoten of Poughkeepsie; four brothers, Vincent and William of Texas, Raymond and Richard of Poughkeepsie; and several nieces and nephews.
No calling hours are planned.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 3 Mulberry St., Rhinebeck, with military honors following the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are welcomed to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
Sweet's Funeral Home in Hyde Park handled the arrangements.
