As a result of the retirement of Michael Marotto from his position as assistant principal at Weston High School, the school had its second opening for that position.

Earlier in the summer, the Weston Board of Education conducted a comprehensive search for a replacement for Dan Doak, who had served as an assistant principal at Weston High School and who is now the principal of Weston Middle School.

During that process, the board identified two excellent candidates, and after extensive deliberation, it appointed Matthew Filip to replace Doak, according to a press release.

Since 2012, Givoni has served as the instructional leader for humanities, fine and performing arts at Joel Barlow High School (Region 9 Public Schools) in Redding.

In this role, Givoni oversees curriculum and assessment, participates as a member of the K-12 Curriculum Alignment Team and serves as a member of the Joel Barlow High School Steering Committee.

In addition, Givoni is Joel Barlow’s choral director – a position she has had since 2007.

Most recently, Givoni was named the 2015 Region 9 Teacher of the Year and was a finalist for Connecticut Teacher of the Year.

“We are thrilled that Ms. Givoni will be joining the Weston High School community," said Superintendent Colleen Palmer. "She is a truly gifted teacher leader, and she will be an excellent addition to our administrative team.”

Givoni has a Bachelor of Science in Music Education, magna cum laude, from New York University, a Master of Arts in Arts Administration from New York University, and a Sixth Year Certificate in Educational Leadership from the University of Connecticut.
