Weston Football Dons Pink For Breast Cancer Month

WESTON, Conn. – Weston High football players will proudly wear pink in Saturday’s game against Immaculate High School in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Trojans will “Play 4 Pink Aid” in the game against the Mustangs, scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. Saturday at home. Varsity players will be sporting pink socks, courtesy of the Gridiron Club.  There will also be a 50/50 raffle and other opportunities during the game to raise money for Pink Aid.

Pink Aid was established in 2011 to help fund the efforts of local organizations that assist women in need who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Such assistance includes free mammograms, wigs, recovery garments, breast prostheses, transportation to and from treatment, babysitting services, housekeeping services, grocery delivery, family support and more.

In its inaugural year, Pink Aid gave grants to Norwalk Hospital’s Smilow Family Breast Health Center and St. Vincent’s Breast Center. Both organizations offer free mammograms and other services to uninsured and under-insured breast cancer patients in Fairfield County. 

The junior varsity football team will also “Play 4 Pink Aid” on Monday, Oct. 8, in its home game against Oxford High School at 4 pm.
