Blind East Orange Man Dies In House Fire, Others Displaced
A 53-year-old man died in a fire at his East Orange home Tuesday, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. The blaze started around 4 p.m. at the Wayne Avenue residence, claiming the life of David Swiney. He was found by firefighters and pronounced dead at the scene. Swiney, who was blind, may have been unable to make his way to safety, family members told News 12. Home Fire Leaves Four Displaced In Stratford
A multi-family house fire Sunday left four people displaced due to smoke and fire damage, according to Stratford Fire Chief Robert McGrath.Quick action by firefighters who responded to the fire around 10:30 a.m. at 812 Surf Ave., were able to contain the blaze to the first-floor, McGrath said. A couple of surrounding units received minor smoke and water damage. A 69-year-old Orange County woman was killed in an early morning fire that swept through her single-family home, according to Town of Warwick Police. The fire, which started around 1:20 a.m. Monday at 129 Hunt Drive in the Village of Florida section of Warwick, was already fully involved when police and fire officials arrived with smoke and flames visible from the windows, said Lt.
