Police In Western Mass Mourn Loss Of Comfort Dog Winston Before His Second Birthday
The Amherst Police Department is mourning the loss of their Comfort Dog Winston, who died after being diagnosed with lymphoma and leukemia last weekend, the department said on Facebook.
"This progressed so aggressively that his handler, Officer Laramee, had to make the heartbreaking decision to end his pain and let him pass peacefully," on Wednesday, June 15, police said. Winston was just about to celebrate his second birthday.

A retired Cambridge Police Officer and Vietnam War Veteran died unexpectedly at the age of 78 on Friday, June 3.
David Weaver, of Somerville, was "a respected officer," who also served on CPD Honor Guard, Cambridge Police said on Facebook.

Man From Region Who Worked As Marketing Director Dies At Age 41
A marketing director who grew up in the Hudson Valley has died at the age of 41.
Connecticut resident Thomas Tavino, of West Hartford, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 4, according to his obituary.
Tavino was born in Putnam County, in the town of Carmel, and was a graduate of Brewster High School.
He earned a bachelor's degree from Marist College and went on to work as senior director of marketing for Takeda Pharmaceuticals, his obituary said.
"He was an avid Mets fan, he had a passion for cooking, and enjoyed golf and blackjack," his obituary reads.

A Connecticut girl who died at the age of 7 is being remembered for her kindness and her fighting spirit when faced with serious illness.
New Haven County resident Jeilany Vega Rivera, of Ansonia, died on Saturday, May 28, according to her obituary.
Jeilany was diagnosed with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, an aggressive brain tumor, in March of 2021, according to a fundraiser set up to support her family.
